Mrs. Melissa Rumsey teaches the 3s class and joined Westwood Preschool’s staff in 2021. She has 14 years of experience working at a preschool and daycare as a teacher and director. Melissa graduated from WMU with a BA in Education and an Early Childhood Education endorsement. She is married and has 4 children. Melissa enjoys cooking, camping and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Shelley Edds joined our staff in 2015 and teaches our 4s classes. Shelley graduated from Western Michigan University with an Education degree including an Early Childhood Endorsement. She has taught kindergarten, first and fifth grades. Shelley is married and has 3 children. She likes to read, ski and volunteer with the Portage Northern Band where her kids perform.
Mrs. Jan Pennings teaches our Young 5s classes. She graduated from Calvin College with a B.A. in Education and has taken several graduate courses at Western Michigan University. Jan has 32 years of teaching experience–4 years at the first grade level and 28 years with Westwood Preschool. Jan and her husband have raised 4 sons and now enjoy their little grandson. She enjoys camping, biking, kayaking and reading.
